In 2011 I escaped from my role
as Director of Studies / Principal Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University and
set up a UK based Ukulele
Academy. In 2015 our family permanently relocated to our rundown orange farm near Silves, from where I continue to teach Ukulele, Banjo (Clawhammer, Bluegrass and Irish
styles),
Guitar, Bass, Mandolin and
Piano, in between trying to manage the farm and raising teenage twins, donkeys,
a horse, dogs, cats and chickens. I currently teach face to face at the farm and online with students
in
Australia, Africa, Portugal, Estonia, Holland, the UK, Canada and the US.
I also attempt to find time to compose orchestral soundtacks, play the melodeon, fiddle,
mandolin
and guitar and write music reviews and features for 'The Old Time News' - a UK based
magazine
focussing on Appalachian Music.
In 2022 I launched 'The
Ukulele Club', my patreon site which introduces my ever-growing archive
of learning material to a worldwide audience.
For the cost of a cup of coffee each month patrons can download my four ukulele books
and
peruse a large selection of ukulele goodness - articles, videos and audio content covering a range of styles
and levels. New material is added each week and there are also membership packages that include
monthly and weekly 1-1 online lessons.
As part of their membership all patrons also have the opportunity to have their own playing
videos
evaluated each month to help them on their ukulele journey. Patrons find this very useful !
Why not pop over to the patreon site and take a look ?
